hog-tied,
my poems are like hogs, tied
lines of verse are chords

they used to be
more difficult to subdue
before encounters
with Mervyn Morris
before a workshop
with Lorna Goodison
who are such experts
in this hunting words business

especially Mervyn Morris
who knows all the short cuts
through the bushes
