Neil Brown, kneel down,
confess your sins

haiku, I wrote when he was arrested for the murder of Archdeacon Thompson, now I understand he's been gunned down, attempting, with three others in maximum security, to break out of Fox Hill Prison, Monday, just after 4 a.m., January 16, 2006.

My daughters' mother was awaken by the prison's alarm which normally sounds at 6 a.m. She jumped out of bed, got dressed for work but was very confused, while dressing, to hear her radio announce that it was just past 4 a.m. "Something has to be wrong at the prison," she concluded once she was sufficiently lucid; and certainly something was. She heard vehicles with sirens blaring going by.
