As Day Collapses
for Philip Smith

as if the sky were falling
when night begins to fall

the sun begins to set and he must run
as if from under it

must get indoors before sunset
before it ended atop his head

as if in dread he flees
not wanting to be trapped
when the roof falls in or caves in
