Unable To Turn Her Off
for S.R-S.

we used to do
what boys and girls do,
kiss and screw

used to make stew,
we ourselves in it,
and eat it with wheat bread
out of the toaster
or out of the microwave
with butter added

without me, she used to go to the movies

with a bucket of pop corn with butter
in the darkened theatre
she’d sit and watch
and laugh and cry
