Water for The River

hardly anything you can say
that can hold water

hardly anything you can say
that is not porous

whatever we are able to make with language
we fill with water and it drips, it leaks

if not immediately, eventually

including what I've written here
including what I'm writing now

sentences, lines of poems, are not cups for tea

language unable to hold water
unable to hold tea, unable to hold pee

language runs like rivers run
always reaching out, stretching out to sea
