for L.J. L.
what beautiful people on planet earth
beginning to enter my universe
I attempt to build it, complete it
before I have to abandon it
don't want to have to leave it unfinished
like Schubert's 8th Symphony
hadn't heard it in a long time, listening to it now
along with you, it fills my mind
tea I usually have with honey,
with sugar, too much added, tastes disgusting
how just right you are
how you're seasoned, how you're flavored
duff and I must cut in, must undo bag
my sister, Winifred, used to stitch close
let it sink into water, boil until done
out of the bag, her knife went in
cut down the middle, several times across
steam escaping, see all the guava in it
sauce she'd cover it with would melt
in half-a-minute
mouths would water, salivate for piece
are you such a treat
