you want to be real wherever you are
you want to self-accept whoever you are

at least you get to begin with what’s genuine
you get to begin with pure gold
with what’s priceless, irreplaceable

you are not going to find yourself anywhere
other than within

not yourself, you deprive the world, the universe
of a quantity and quality of substance

God put in creation for some purpose, some reason
not being fulfilled as long as you withhold you

as long as you refuse to be or are not genuine

genuine is the jewelry you seek, we seek
genuine is what the wise men brought
to offer the Christ child, lying in the manger

let us offer him ourselves as well, what’s real
