for Mervyn Morris
another wonderful rainy day
yesterday the sun came out
today again the weather's divine
rain coming down and the cars
and whatever else on four wheels
going through it, making swishing music
and the just out of school children
coming home, going home in it, through it
thought I heard a stone thrown
thought I heard the crack of one
hitting the upstairs front of my house
heartbeat quickening
had to run out to see
unable quickly enough
to locate my bunch of keys
go out and see umbrellas raised
mothers with children
some upon backs with backpacks
riot of young boys in packs
with the noise they make of speech
determined to menace
could it be because they fear
are quaking within, want to hide this
hide it way within layers and layers
of pretending to be tough
determined to intimidate
out of harmony with life
will never make peace with it
as I do when it rains
and when it doesn't

I want it to rain, if only to see what you saw that day. A very vivid and reflective poem. Movement. Feeling. Rain. Reign.
