how can all that's in your stomach
come out between
where thighs meet

stomach so much bigger than eyes
when she turns, looks at me

how pretty she was yesterday
hair an arrangement of flowers

though microscopic when it went in
whole world certainly can see it now

belly like melon
large enough for a dozen hands
half-a-dozen faces,
half-a-dozen mouths to bite into

having a baby, sweet as all spices

bitter the bridge to cross
to get her baby boy or girl
into this world
into this whirl
