Trial to Wear Out
for D.B.A.

she can leave you nothing
or little to stand on or to go on

when she is withdrawn
or when she kicks away or pulls away
whatever it was that was underfoot

her broad hips, wider, broader
whenever you look back
each time you weigh them

when you fill your eyes
when you fill your eyes again

what it seems gets thinner, slimmer
is character

patience shrinks, shorter and shorter
shorter even than she is

misfit that she is
outfit I've put on, I'd put on

clothed in her in whatever climate
on whatever occasion
in places where, attired in her
I was odd, was out of place

but what did I care in too short coat
or in what was mismatched
or in vest out of style

impact upon her, upon me
has been both wonderful
and not at all easy

How sassy you are, D'Anrhra and at once how very accurate. What you have contained in inverted commas, whose words are they Dee, darling?
